McGwire is a hobbit. Mattingly is in the Majors. And I'm on the same payroll as the former Yank. Donnie, I'm sorry. I'm officially on your side. (Still miss you Mark, in case you're reading.)

Donnie Baseball
So as Lauryn and I dined on Sushi in the Hollywood Hills (Yamashiro - check out the link on the right) the Dodgers decided to play a little offense in the first game back from the All Star Break. For the first time since 2006, the Blue Crew bashed 4 home runs in one game as they beat Arizona 8-7 in 11 innings to move into a first place tie with the Diamondbacks.
The power supply may have been turned off the first half of the year, but there is a reasonable explanation for the surge. That's right, Donnie Baseball, the newly appointed hitting coach of the Dodgers and former thorn in my side. Why the hard feelings? As a kid growing up in the NY/NJ metro area, I obviously idolized the Oakland A's and the now infamous Bash Brothers. McGwire (a.k.a. the better-half of that dynamic duo) was my hero and his alter-ego and arch-enemy (according only to my friends) was the 1st baseman playing in the Bronx - Don Mattingly. I would argue with friends over who was better and I did my best not to root for #23. But in the end, look at the results:
McGwire is a hobbit. Mattingly is in the Majors. And I'm on the same payroll as the former Yank. Donnie, I'm sorry. I'm officially on your side. (Still miss you Mark, in case you're reading.)
